Programs
Can Do Coalition works to increase the number of volunteers in the stem cell registries: cord blood, peripheral blood and bone marrow. Collectively these registries are a critical resource for children fighting cancer.
Can Do Coalition identifies, buys, procures and delivers toys and creative activities to kids with cancer.
Can Do Coalition integrates its public service efforts. Can Do Coalition has developed a public service Web activity entitled the Do Good Donor Game (DGDG). The DGDG integrates online engagement and education with traditional volunteering to help pediatric patients.
The purpose of the DGDG is to encourage the public to learn why and how to become a volunteer in the stem cell registries. This encouragement takes the form of a positive public service challenge -- the more the public chooses to learn and to spread information about why and how to become a volunteer in the stem cell registries -- the more HOPE ribbons are earned toward helping a pediatric oncology patient receive a free gift.
In concert with a growing goodwill alliance, Can Do Coalition has succeeded in both educating the public about the volunteer stem cell registries and providing toys to hundreds of pediatric oncology patients.
